We made our start being the only authorized IKEA service provider in Edmonton for the first 6 years of our business. With that, we are experts in their product and IKEA Planner design software.
Over the pandemic, with supply issues as the primary obstacle, we grew into more of a general contracting role.
Mid 2022 we were presented with the opportunity to renew our contract with IKEA but politely declined.
While we appreciate them for giving us a start, we wanted to have the liberty to branch out to multiple suppliers to remain competitive in the renovation industry.
For Your Information:
The following are general questions that come up during a renovation. Please use this as a guide to assist you during your renovation.
How much does a kitchen renovation cost?
A kitchen renovation cost will vary from job to job. We base our remodels around cabinet price and type. Most cabinets, install, some trades, counters, tile run around $12,000- $16,000. Additionally:
- if you add flooring in it can be around $16,000 – $20,000
- if you add in wall removal and full electrical $20,000 – $26,000
- large scale projects are $26,000+
Please keep in mind this is a major investment and it takes time and money to have a space that you love. We always recommend that you get multiple quotes so that you are informed.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Renovations vary in length, one is not like the other. On standard, a full renovation with two or more trades coming into your home aside from the install crew, we estimate 6-8 weeks. For two of the 6-8 weeks, we are waiting for counters to be installed so we can finish the remainder of the kitchen. PLEASE keep in mind renovations are not convenient and can be stressful on a person’s life. We recommend having a proper set up for yourself for cooking, cleaning and eating for at least 6-8 weeks. Please also note that the current worldwide pandemic has affected stock amounts and can delay a renovation.
What do we need to do to prep for a renovation?
What we suggest to do for renovation prep is to empty all of your cabinets out into boxes/tupperware containers, and move smaller appliances you will be using to a table set up outside of the kitchen. Make an area of your home the temporary kitchen with your fridge, small appliances and dry food. Next, cover anything you wish to keep protected, furniture, flooring etc. We do try to keep dust and debris to a minimum in the home, but a little bit of dust is not avoidable. We would like to stress that a renovation is never convenient, it will be a disruption in your home, please be prepared to be living differently for the next 6-8 weeks.
How long will I be without a sink?
You will be without your sink for most of the renovation as your sink cannot be hooked up until counters go in which can range anywhere between week 5-7. If you wish to have a temporary hook up done, we can add this cost to your quotation.
What if there is a delay in my project?
There are times that our trades/installers do get sick or injured. We will try our best to keep delays to a minimum but there are times it is unavoidable.
Quotes are subject to change at times due to unforeseen circumstances. Clients will be apprised of the changes as the project is ongoing. Quotes that are given without appropriate trades present at the time of walkthrough are estimates ONLY.
The Owner accepts that there may be inconveniences from time to time, and the Contractor agrees to keep such inconveniences to a reasonable minimum. The Project Manager is the contact person for any Questions or Concerns that Owners may have.
Will someone be at my home everyday?
No, there will not be someone present every day at your job. In the beginning, there is a lot of action going on getting your demolition done, plumbing and electrical adjustments, drywall and installation. Once counters have been templated, the job site is very quiet as most of the work is hinging on counters being installed. Please don’t stress if you have not seen someone in a few days, we have not forgotten about you. Please check your schedule, but do take note the schedule given at the beginning of a project is tentative as things can change during a renovation.
